Implementation & results

The challenge

Boskalis wanted to make Generative AI practical at scale, not as a one-off experiment. The organization needed a way to help teams translate complex business questions into clear, useful AI applications.

Another challenge was improving access to large volumes of internal documentation, where finding the right information quickly can be difficult.

Hixton approach

Hixton supported Boskalis with the rollout of an internal chatbot powered by Azure OpenAI Services. To boost adoption, the Prompting Academy was launched within the Boskalis Academy, supported by training sessions and practical examples.

  • Internal GenAI chatbot for global teams
  • Added capabilities for searching and analyzing large text files
  • Prompting Academy with training materials and practical guidance
  • Ongoing AI business analysis to identify and shape high-impact use cases

Impact

Daily chatbot usage has grown steadily, with teams applying AI to real operational work. Boskalis has become one of the more advanced large-scale GenAI adopters in the Dutch maritime sector.

By monitoring usage patterns and collecting employee feedback, Hixton and Boskalis continue to improve relevance and effectiveness.
